Passive voice and conditionals

1.    The passive voice tense is used because …

·      The passive voice is a type of sentence. So a passive voice sentence puts the object or receiver of the action to the subject position

2.    When do we use the passive voice?

·      The person who did the action is unknown.
·      It is not important who did the action.
·      It is obvious who did the action.
·      Someone is trying to hide who did it.

3.    The structure to use the passive voice in the
PRESENT TENSE is object + to be (present) + past participle + (by + subject) ** if needed.
PAST TENSE is object + to be (past) + past participle + (by + subject) ** if needed.
PRESENT PROGRESSIVE is object + to be (present) + being + past participle + (by + subject) ** if needed.

1.    Which tenses are used in the first conditional? Write an example about it.

·         PRESENT SIMPLE , FUTURE WILL

    IF clause                 result clause

EXAMPLE: If it rains, I will wear a coat.

2.    What is the characteristic of the first conditional?

·         First conditional is a real or probable conditional, because there are things that can happen.
3.    Which tenses are used in the second conditional? Write an example about it.

·         SIMPLE PAST, WOULD-COULD-MIGHT…

     IF clause                  result clause

EXAMPLE: if I had lots of money, I´d buy a car.

4.   The pronoun I comes with the verb to be in the second conditional in which form.

·         In second conditional, the pronoun I is used with the verb to be in the form of the first person in plural, so you don´t use I was, you have to use I were.

EXAMPLE: if I were taller, I´d be more handsome.

5.    Which tenses are used in the third conditional?

·         PAST PERFECT, WOULD + PRESENT PERFECT

                           IF clause                       result clause

EXAMPLE: If I had known about the test, I´d have studied much more.
